SEATTLE -  Washington state wildlife agents are trying to trap and kill two coyotes they say have been threatening people in Seattle's Discovery Park and the nearby Magnolia neighborhood.

State Fish and Wildlife Capt. Bill Hebner said Thursday the decision to trap the animals was made after several residents and park visitors reported two coyotes stalking them and refusing to back away despite efforts to frighten them. Hebner says while many neighborhoods have urban coyotes that may snack on small pets, "these coyotes have lost their natural fear of humans."

A U.S. Agriculture Department wildlife control agent set two live traps on Wednesday. Hebner says the animals will be euthanized if trapped because coyotes that have lost their fear of humans can't be successfully relocated.

A coyote grabbed and injured a small dog earlier this month in Magnolia; the dog recovered.

hmmm i wonder who lived on the land first? oh the coyotes so if people dont want coyotes to bother them then mabey they shouldnt build there house in areas that animals have had forever. why should the coyotes be punished just cause someone takes over there space. plus coyotes get rid of alot of animals people dont want around such as rats and mice.

Yeah, those darned coyotes have killed humans by the hundreds of thousands - oh, wait - it's the other way around. My mistake. Humans killed by coyotes in this state number in the zeroes. Carry on. Whatever made scientists think we deserved the titled "sapien"?
