Around Western Washington, 2009 was a year of tragedy, triumph, struggle, celebration and nostalgia.

From the senseless shootings of local law enforcement officers, to the long delayed first flight of the 787, to the threat of major flooding in a key economic area of King County to the return of "The Kid" Ken Griffey, Jr. to the Seattle Mariners.

There are so many stories that made headlines, not only here, but caught the nation's attention as well.

So we want to know what you think. To the right of this page, you'll find a list of just some of the stories that made the top headlines in 2009. Vote for which one you think was the biggest of the year.

Well if your poll is right with 69% for Shooting deaths of Western Wash. officers, it shows how most of us are feeling the pain caused by these horrific crimes. My prayers are with the families of the victims and the Officers who still go out to protect us each and every day. May god be with you all!

The biggest tragedy in Washington was Christy was re-elected. Half the people didn't even notice.

So apparently the current opinion of the nation's first black president has already dimmed the lights on that "big story". I didn't even vote for him and that's still the biggest story IMO.
