LYNNWOOD, Wash. -- The campus at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood remained empty Friday afternoon as police searched for the person who posted an online threat against students.
The school district alerted parents and students around 4:30 a.m. that it was cancelling school for the day.
According to Lynnwood police spokesperson Shannon Sessions, several people saw a blog post on the Internet Thursday night about a threat to the student body on April 13 and contacted police. While police did not specify what the exact threat was, they said it was not a bomb threat.
Police were determining if the threat is credible. Some students who gathered in the school’s parking lot said the district made the right call to cancel classes. They said it was best to put student safety first.
Students were also taking advantage of a sunny Friday off from school.
“Just finished at Denny’s,” said one sophomore. “Headed to the Mariner’s game early tonight.”
