With all the warnings about the dangers of distracted driving, one event aims to educate teens before they even get their license.
UPS is teaming up with the Boys and Girls Club of Seattle for “Road Code.” It’s a program that helps teens build safe routines behind the wheel that do not involve cell phones and other distractions.
The Southwest branch of the Boys and Girls Club is hosting the event Thursday, 4:30-6:30 p.m. It's located at 9800 8th Avenue SW, Suite 105. A simulator and obstacle course is available to highlight distraction and dangers on the roads.
According to organizers, the Washington State Department of Transportation says over 1,000 distraction-involved collisions occur in Seattle every year.
UPS and the Boys and Girls Club host a similar event every month at its Southwest branch location. You do not need to be a member of the club to attend.
