The cab fare from downtown to Sea-Tac will rise 25 percent to $40 under rates approved on Monday.
But taxi drivers aren't pleased with the rate hike because of what they see as unfair competition from flat-rate town cars and for-hire car services.
Drivers of metered cabs want the for-hire cars to have meters as well.
The new rates will go into effect 30 days after the mayor signs the legislation.
