One month later, one of Washington's major wildfires has been contained.
The Table Mountain fire in Kittitas County was fully contained this week. It burned 43,312 acres between Cle Elum and Ellensburg.
The fire started over the weekend of September 9 by a lightning storm.
Combined with smoke from the nearby Wenatchee Complex fire, Central Washington has been choked with hazardous air for weeks. The air has since cleared, and Saturday the Central Washington University football team play their first home game of the season in Ellensburg. Smoke from the fires forced the team to move two previous home games.
Rain is expected to finally come to Kittitas County by Sunday. Meanwhile temperatures are forecasted to drop in the region by about 10 degrees over the next several days.
