SEATTLE - The Washington Department of Ecology says a diving and salvage company has been able to raise a sunken tugboat in Seattle's Duwamish River with minimal environmental damage.
Spokeswoman Cathy Cochrane says the 65-foot tug Island Wind sank Sunday after its bow became wedged beneath the dock at low tide.
Coast Guard and state crews were able to put booms and absorbent material around the tug, which was raised Sunday evening.
Cochrane says only about 25 gallons of oily bilge water was released, but it was isolated and cleaned up. The tug is owned by Island Tug and Barge.
