SEATTLE - Residents in the Blue Ridge and North Beach neighborhoods of Seattle think they are being targeted by burglars.

Rudy Pantoja has had enough.

"My neighbor was hit, multiple neighbors up the street have been hit," he said.

The hits are coming from a burglar or burglars who have grown increasingly bold.

"The disturbing part is the attempted burglaries are happening at night, while families are sleeping," said Phil.

Phil is part of a new neighborhood system that is trying to track down the criminals.

"We've started a distribution list for emails with security reports as they happen," he said.

That includes surveillance video, which a neighbor believes may show a person of interest in one North Beach burglary.

Neighbors say cars, electronics and other items have been taken in the spree.

And they're hoping by going on the offensive, they can end the trend and capture the crooks.

"We don't need to have a home invasion robbery or burglary go bad," said Rudy.

"Report anything, anything suspicious," said Phil.

Thankfully, although there have been some close calls, no one has been seriously injured.

The burglaries aren't just happening in blue ridge. About 3 weeks ago, on the night when we had a death in our family, someone stole several items out of our car as we were unloading it from the hospital. They must have been watching and hiding because there was no one on the street when we pulled up to our neighborhood (sunset hill). We called the police but they wouldn't send anyone out because it was 3 a.m. That same day, in broad daylight, they stole our lawnmower. Yet no one saw anything at all suspicious. How do you not see a lawnmower going down the street?? This year, we have had our car stolen, twice!! We have nothing left, thieves, nothing!! Choose a different house!! Neighbors need to be more watchful and not just worry about yourselves! Burglaries affect the whole neighborhood!

Man that sucks it sounds like Seattle is not a safe place. As far as the police coming out I understand they don't usually don't for this kind of crime they just tell you to file a report. I know seveal situations that what they have told the victims no wonder this kind of crime is all over our fair city.

Because comments are turned off on the police articles, I will comment here as my point is related to both articles... first idiots have got to stop killing officers! 2nd thanks to people who write laws including Mayor Nickels' park gun ban, we have given the criminal more edge top do bold things like burglaries and cops killing... it's really doubtful this guy would have fired on those officers if he knew at least one citizen was armed in that shop... he probably would not have made it out the door... and these criminals have no fear robbing businesses. Just saying for our police sake, as the officers I know approve of the idea of an armed citizen, we need to put more trust in our fellow citizens to help combat those who do harm.
