CHEHALIS, Wash. – A four-year-old boy, allegedly taken forcibly by his father Tuesday morning, has been found safe. The father is in custody.
Jacek Reed and his father, Dustin Reed, were tracked down at a Bonney Lake Fred Meyer at about 2:45 p.m. Tuesday. Chehalis police said they were found by using a cell phone trace.
An Amber Alert was activated after Dustin, 35, allegedly took Jacek from a women's shelter in Chehalis at about 9:15 a.m.
Dustin, who is on leave from Fort Knox, Kentucky, was supposed to fly in Tuesday to surprise Jacek, said his estranged wife, Sheena. But he unexpectedly showed up at the family's home Monday night.
Out of fear, Sheena sought help at the Human Response network.
"And when I came to the door, Dustin was here and he took my son and he threw him in the car and as he was backing up, he hit my friend," said Sheena.
Witnesses say Jacek had been hurt while being put in the getaway car. Police have not said how badly he, or the person who was hit by the car, were injured.
