BOTHELL, Wash. – A Snohomish County Sheriff's Deputy fired one shot, hitting a man inside a home near Bothell Sunday morning.
The man later died.
Sgt. Robert Goetz with Everett Police said the home is one that law enforcement has been called to for domestic violence and other disturbances in the past.
The man's relatives called 911 just before noon to report a disturbance.
“When the deputies arrived they entered the home and were confronted by a male in his 20s,” said Goetz. “Some type of altercation occurred inside the residence, a single shot was fired and the incident was basically over at that point.”
Neighbor Mohammad Azam Awan watched from across the street when the two deputies pulled up to the scene.
"They slowly went close to the door and they entered inside," he said. "And then I heard a shot -- a small shot."
Goetz could not confirm if the man was armed.
The man was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was pronounced dead at 3 p.m.
The 44-year-old deputy who fired the shot has been in law enforcement for more than 20 years, Goetz said.
