WHITE CENTER, Wash. -- King County sheriff's deputies are searching for the driver who hit a pedestrian with his car and then took off in Seattle's White Center neighborhood.
The incident happened around 1:45 a.m. Thursday near 14th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Roxbury Street. Deputies think the driver was coming off Delridge Way before striking the victim.
Witnesses said the victim flew about 30 feet after being hit.
"I don't know if he flew or got carried, but approximately 30 feet from the crosswalk," said Det. Syb Hiemstra, King County Sheriff's Dept. "Did he get carried that far and roll off the hood? Did he get knocked that far? That I don't know."
The victim, a 55-year-old Seattle man, suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators were examining evidence left behind by the vehicle, believed to be a dark colored. No other information was given about the vehicle.
