SPANAWAY, Wash. -- A Pierce County sheriff's spokesman says partygoers at a Spanaway, Wash., home not only took it upon themselves to beat up a driver who crashed his car through a fence but also turned on deputies who arrived to rescue the man.
Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer said several people took offense at the intrusion of the "possibly intoxicated" driver late Sunday night. The car came to rest after striking the home's front porch.
Deputies arrived to find the 61-year-old driver unconscious outside his vehicle. Troyer says some partygoers refused to back away and charged the deputies, who used pepper spray on them.
Deputies arrested two men for investigation of assaulting the driver. Troyer says the driver was taken to a hospital and will be arrested for investigation of DUI.
