Several homes in Sequim were damaged by lightning when a storm blew through on Friday morning.
The thunderstorm passed over the City of Sequim at about 11 a.m. At 11:14 a.m. Clallam County Fire District No. 3 received a report of lightning striking a structure at 90 Elizabeth Lane.
First arriving units found minor structural damage to the outside siding, gutters and one wall inside of the home.
There was no fire but several areas of the home's siding was charred.
Fire officials said the owner was at home when the bolt hit and was “unnerved but not injured.”
Officials say at 11:59 a.m. another 911 caller reported that a structure on Craftsman Court had been struck by lightning and had significant roof damage.
Firefighters found the unoccupied home with roof tiles and siding littering the roof and ground. There was heavy charring and light smoke was coming from holes in the roof.
Firefighters discovered that a shared irrigation system in the neighborhood appeared to have dissipated the energy from the lightning, causing damage to the irrigation timers on four other homes.
No injuries were reported.
