OLYMPIA, Wash.-- The Senate has voted to pass a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in Washington state Wednesday.

The Senate passed the bill on vote of 28-21.  Four Republicans crossed party lines and voted with majority Democrats for the measure. Three Democrats voted against it.

The measure now moves to the House, which also has enough votes to pass the bill.  Governor Chris Gregoire has said she will sign the bill if it gets to her desk.

"Marriage is how society says you are a family," said State Senator Ed Murray (D-Seattle).

The openly gay senator sponsored the bill to legalize gay marriage and Wednesday made a passionate plea to pass it.

"We seek, like you, the chance to live our lives, to experience joy, to care for our families," said Murray.

The bill survived several amendments and objections from some Republicans who urged a statewide vote on the issue.

"This legislation will create a hostile environment for those that believe in traditional marriage," said State Senator Dan Swecker (R-Rochester).

A few Republican senators did cross over the aisle including Maple Valley Republican Cheryl Pflug.

Opponents of same-sex marriage have already promised a referendum battle if the bill is signed into law.

Any challenge to the bill can't be filed until after it is passed by the full Legislature and signed into law by Gregoire. Opponents then must turn in 120,577 signatures by June 6.

If opponents aren't able to collect enough signatures, gay and lesbian couples would be able to be wed starting in June.

KING 5's Chris Daniels and the Associated Press also contributed to this report.

@treeclimber: I take it that you are heterosexual. Can you produce statistics of how many pedophiles are homosexual and how many are heterosexual? If it so happens that more heterosexuals are pedophiles, would you petition to bar heterosexual marriages because it creates pedophiles. Were you dropped as a kid? or were you just thrown?

Despite the religious contention that our government was framed by Christians for Christians, the Constitution was written by people who had suffered the abuses of a theocracy and was carefully crafted to preclude theocratic principles from its pages. Marriage is either a religious accord, or it is a civil union. If it is a religious accord it must be stripped of any special privilege of law or allowed to afford any civil right or privilege not available to non-participants. If it is a civil accord, it must be a privilege equally available to all citizens. One cannot simultaneously proclaim marriage to be a religious concept with the only valid concept of marriage being the mainstream "Christian" concept of marriage and insist that it be encoded into law. If this is not so, then why do we work so hard to force other cultures to replace Sharia law with a system that closely mirrors our own? Is it about human rights and equality, or is it really about religion?

@treeclimber: My husband and I (heterosexual marriage) sleep with our children between us all the time. We have 5 kids, and they all take turns sleeping with us. They enjoy it, and so do we. Are you suggesting there's something sexual going on with parents who co-sleep with their children? You do know there is a BIG difference between homosexuals and pedophiles, right?

@treeclimber...MOST ALL PEDOHILES ARE STRAIGHT MARRIED MEN THAT HAVE SEX WITH LITTLE BOYS OR JUST STRAIGHT MEN, YOU CAN THROW IN A FEW WOMAN THAT LIKE TO HAVE SEX WITH YOUNG TEENAGE BOYS TOO. Gay men and woman like someone of there own age. AND THEN TAKE A LOOK AT ALL THESE RELIGIOUS LEADERS THAT ARE PEDOPHILES, THESE CATHOLICS HAVE BEEN GETTING AWAY WITH HAVING SEX WITH YOUNG BOYS SINCE THE CATHOLIC CHURCH WAS FIRST BUILT. SO YOU BETTER LOOK UP YOUR STAT''S ON THAT ONE. YOU WILL BE IN SHOCK TREECLIMBER.

ALL have sinned (except Jesus Christ) and fallen short of the glory of God...one difference between christians and non-christians is that as a christian you admit your offenses against God and other people, ask their forgiveness and try to do better (for me this usually means asking God to help me change my ways).

The Divorce Lawyers of this state must be jumping for joy.... I plan on never being married, my non-wife and I have been getting all the same rights as Gays have been given without the need to be married... Marriage is a spiritual thing, not a legal obligation... The most miserable I have seen anyone is when they are getting divorced... Why anyone would want to be legally married is beyond me.... Funny how so many people think of marriage as a religious thing, only to get divorced with zero religious fallout or guilt..

Taylorwood, when people do nothing but call us sick (see colesweetpea for that one) and try and use the bible hypocritically to condemn us, that is the very essence of hate and bigotry. If someone wants to offer up an argument of actual substance, rather than religious arguments, I will gladly listen. But, this country is not a theocracy, so religion does not apply to this argument. The church does not make the law. We have separation of church and state to ensure that churches do not make the law. Want to use history? Interracial marriages were once against the law. People were convinced letting people marry interracially would be the downfall of civilization. Was it? Historically, women were not granted the right to vote in this country. If we want to talk about what the founding fathers had in mind, then we need to return to those ideas across the board, right? After all, the founding fathers didn't want it. See? Try something of real substance. We'll wait.

If so, would you allow yourself, or them, to be stoned for the sake of your religious beliefs? If so, then let me know, and I can have a group there ready to administer the religious ritual. If not, then do not attempt to use the bible on anyone else. You cannot cherry pick when it comes to the bible. All or nothing. And we don't even say the Pledge of Allegiance anymore in schools because why should we make a Pledge to a Flag. Now if it was worded to say We Pedge Allegiance to this Country that might be a different story. God is not sending anyone to Hell for loving one another. What you are doing is an immoral act against God and you're fellow Americans.! "Together we stand and divided we fall." And from some of the comments I"ve read, You gays and lesbians are the children of the antichrist and when the Lord God does come you will recieve your just rewards. And you Politicians are showing no concern for the Moral up-bringing of our children and are not fulfilling your commitment to the General Publlic, to protect us from these immoral applications to the law. I'm sure that a murderer could give you an equally emotional sob story as to his right to having commited a murder, but it would still not make it morally right, or ask any drug dealer about his rights to sell and distribute drugs. For those crying that we already voted on it, that doesn't mean anything. Certain things do not get to be put to a vote legally. I wonder how conservatives would feel if there was a referendum on the ballot that said "Republicans cannot get married in the State of Washington". If that passed, would you go away quietly, saying "well, it's what the voters wanted". Of course you wouldn't, and you know it. So stop with that hypocrisy. Majority does not now, nor has it ever, ruled in the cases of civil rights. By the way, the government in this country was founded in a way that protected the minority from being overrun by the majority. Learn some civics! Gays do not ruin marriage. Heterosexuals have been making a mockery of marriage for YEARS. The marriage vows include "til death do us part". So, I guess every conservative that ever got divorced is going to hell for going against their religion? Funny how you can do it, but cry at others for doing it. Hypocrites!

@ptjolly - As I have stated before, some things in the Bible are things that really happened while others were related to the culture and lifestyle at the time it was written - other things are told to illustrate like a story problem in math. It can be difficult for even a believer to discern. But I'm pretty sure I'm not going to Hell for wearing denim and polyester. And just because Jesus didn't say anything about a subject doesn't mean that God doesn't care about it.

How can any person belong to a religion or believe in a God, Santa Claus or whatever, when that God, The Easter Bunny or whatever, doesn't include all peoples. It's a judgemental attitude. What is so hard to understand. Religion only serves the religous when the religious want it to. All religious beliefs and policies change when the followers need it to. U.S. is 80% christian? Possibly 200 years ago, before we were able to question it's tenets. I know it's difficult for people to accept that maybe their beliefs aren't popular anymore, but all Christians see the righting on the wall. The Christian ranks are getting smaller every year and hopefully my grandchildren will not have to have a discussion about how someone saw the baby Jesus's image on their meatlover's pizza

But like one person said, it has nothing to do whether you like the person, it is marriage is and always be between man and woman,. government can't change that.. maybe on paper but not in real life.. That is not judging people they can live togather all they want.no one cares, but to marryy them!!! Grow up in another part of the world and poof, you believe in that god. The NT is plagerized from pagan religions that predate christianity. Having Jesus be a scapegoat is not moral or ethical because it removes PERSONAL RESPONSIBLY.. which all morals and ethics are based upon.

Let's be clear. The Christians have set up the perfect anti-business scheme, that has stood the test of time. IF you desire sex hetro sex, you must be married. That supports local business. And effectively put prostitution out of business. Trying to skirt this premise, m/m or f/f meets the same resistance. And of course it is all cloaked in religious mumble-jumbo, keeping the crowds in line by threatening them with the Wrath of God if they don't toe the line. That's why we need to legalize prostitution, so that everyone has an opportunity for a "happy ending."

@Gregory7: First of all, *Mount Si* is in North Bend. *Mount SiNAI* is somewhere in the middle east. And Mosses [sic] probably grow on both. @vffrwm: Can you not possibly think that the voter opinion changes over the years? 70 years ago, most people (most people that voted anyway) thought that inter-racial relationships were wrong. Now, most people (most voters) if asked would vote FOR legalizing interracial relations. Time passes, kids grow up, people come, people go, and the demographic changes. Ergo, it's the government's job to check in periodically and change with the people. I didn't live in WA in 1998 when the first vote against marriage equality passed. (I wasn't even old enough to vote). But now I'm here, old enough to vote, and am casting my ballot in favour of marriage equality. Demographics and opinions change, and the laws must change with them.

It angers me to see people clamoring for their "right" to deny their fellow citizens equal treatment by the government. No one is hurt when consenting partners of the same sex can get married, but plenty of people are hurt when they're given second class status simply for being something the majority, or a vocal minority, finds distasteful. If you think your god disapproves, then it was on your god to appear before the senate and state his case in a direct, uncryptic fashion. (He might have included an explanation of why a deity should have any say in a secular government.) Unsurprisingly, this never happens. Oh, I know, it's a matter of "choice" or "free will" or some other convenient excuse. But if that's true, then you lot need to take a lesson from your god's example and let people follow their own consciences.

Then the legislature, because of their need for re-election money will pass it again and on and on and on. The people have said no, that should make it the law of the land.

@dakotanative, child molestation isn't about orientation, it's about predation. Ask most child molesters how they identify and they would say heterosexual. So that's two things you have in common with them. 1)This urge to prey on what you perceive as as weak and 2)your orientation. I'm not saying you're a baby rapist, or that all heterosexuals are baby rapists. And while your idiotic ramblings aren't as disgusting as preying on children is, I have to say you seem to think/talk about preying on children more than anyone I know and I know a lot of gay people. BUT getting back to the real point at hand, this law doesn't legalize preying on children for sexual gratification so you're out of luck (if that's you personal angle) and also making no sense in this discussion again.

It is sick that people in think like that. Comparing love with an animal to love with a human being. Why would you even think of baby raping? You'd have to have a sick mind to come up with that to compare to. Can't people just be civil adults about this matter, instead of insulting each other because of who you love? No need to post crude comments.

@emptynstr - I'm really not sure what you're getting at through everything your saying. I keep reading your posts thinking your getting to a point about the topic at hand but you keep going on about God. I believe I understand your point of view because I myself am a Christ loving man and believe that we are ALL equal in Gods eyes. We have all sinned in one way or another and fall short of the glory of God. That being said, I don't look at anyone who is gay as a "bad" person or anything. I will firmly say that I don't agree with marrying someone of the same sex simply because I don't believe God made us to marry the same sex. If one plans on having kids and to raise them in a healthy family, it has been proven that have a man in a women is the best balance to nurture a child. This is what I think and believe. Everyone has their own opinion and being a Christian...I'm not going to judge anyone. I'm just simply stating my thoughts on the topic.

They aren't hurting you or anyone else. If two people are in love, they should be allowed to marry and be entitled to all of the same benefits everyone else enjoys, regardless of race, sexual orientation, or RELIGIOUS beliefs. Maybe we should start taking away civil rights of you bible thumpers, and see how you like it.

@treeclimber LOL you are disgusting. People are just finally getting their EQUAL rights. Rights that we should of had, and not had to fight to get to begin with. This shouldn't even be something that we're just now voting on. It should of been taken care of years and years ago. Years ago other ethnic groups weren't allowed in certain places. There were places for white individuals, and places for black individuals. Nowadays it's nearly the same idea! Straight people get the amazing privilege of getting to marry and profess their love to the amazing, special person in their life. Gays get "civil unions," not nearly the same thing. A ripoff version if you will. A small glimpse into the rights that we SHOULD already have. Every single citizen. We formed this country long ago with the idea that we wouldn't force our citizens to be a certain way. Separation of church and state. Whatever happened to that? You are close minded. And mentioning children like that? You're sick.

Love is love. Why would you deprive someone from loving someone else? All you're doing is spreading hate, putting hate into the minds of others. Go up to someone who's in love (someone who is gay/lesbian/bi/ect) and tell them they can't love someone, that they're nothing, that they are not able to have the same rights as everyone else... tell me how you feel when you see them cry because YOU broke their soul, dreams, and heart. Will that make you feel better? I don't care if you don't believe in same sex couples/marriage, but could you destroy someones dreams? I wish the tables were turned, so that anyone against it now would know how it felt to have someone tell you that you can't marry the person you love. Except we would want equality for everyone.. unlike now.

Everyone is the same, why someone is attracted to someone else is beyond my mere mortal reasoning. I guess it's all in Gods plan, since he did create us all. By your name I take it you have married, had children and watched them grow up and leave. You are happy with the fact that they have matured and have the choice to be and do whatever they want to do. My question is, why would you deny that same for other parents and their young adults? I use to be like you too, but I have figured out that life is hard enough just trying to make it day to day. I nolonger have the time or energy to hate without understanding. To think that I am better than anyone else.

You people may THINK it doesn't affect anybody but yourselves, but the fact of the matter is we are ALL a part of society and society suffers as a result of your selfish choices in higher taxes to pay for your choices such as health care and in broken hearts that may never be really mended. And the pain of your selfishness DOES affect the majority of society in being FORCED to accept your lifestyle in business, church, and other entities. You refuse to accept our views and shush us up so that we can't say what our Bible teachs even in our own churches BECAUSE it "might hurt your feelings" . Truth is still truth and shushing us up won't change it. It is SICK. You people are never going to quit til you get your way at the expense of all the rest of society and then we ALL go down the sewer together. . It doesn't mean I don't care about YOU as a person. Sin is sIn with the big "I" in the center. We can only have a cohesive society when we put others first.

I'm sorry for you folks who think that the Bible is full of myths and fairy tales but it has been backed up by archeology and science as well. The reason you don't understand it is because it is spiritually discerned and the things of God are foolishness to those who don't believe. But to those of us who do believe it is The Way, the TRUTH, and the LIFE. People's hearts are hard and therefore they have already been given over to their sinful ways. All we have to do is look around and see the consequences of the choices of those who do not take God's word seriously. Divorces (yes, even among those who CLAIM to be Christians), immorality, and violence, the higher cost of everything that is a result of having to do FOR people what they refuse to do for themselves. You can justify your choices and behavior all you want but ultimately we ALL will be held accountable for our choices either for good or for bad. Even if man doesn't catch you, God sees into each mans heart.

Interesting enough as you all have thrown God and religion into this topic – God made us this way. It’s not like we woke up one day and chosen to be gay, lesbian, transgender or a straight person. All we are asking for is to have the same basic human protective rights as a man and woman would have. We are not asking for special privileges – just the right to be married. I too pay taxes, own my own home and land, raised 1 biological child, 1 mentally challenged nephew and 8 foster sons. I am active member of a Catholic Church…so on so forth…. NEWS FLASH: We maybe your neighbors….Get a grip people! Let’s just pass this Bill and get on with our lives. There are far more and better things to argue about-

As I age, I guess I have become more tolerant of people and what they wish to do in their private lives, and if Gay's want to get married, who am I to stop them, whether I agree or disagree. What I do have a problem with though, is the fact that our state legislature has devoted so much time and attention to this and done nothing else to balance a budget or the things necessary to keep our state above water. This seems to me to be a thing that could have been put off for other more important issues the state is facing. Why would our governor put this before the legislature when we are having trouble funding public schools, public safety, and roads. Is it that that important to push it through as a high priority? It gives the appearence of another self serving piece of legislation to a small group of people, than to legislate for the good of the majority. Again, I don't care if Gays and Lesbians get married, I just think there were/are more important issues that face the state.

I am a Bible believing, door-knocking, foot-stomping, prayer using Christian. It amazes me that people argue over marriage and the States rulings thereof. Marriage has been around much longer than Washington State Sentate, Representatives, or its people. The only reason that the government ever became interested in marriage was when it discovered that there was a profit in it. I have many rights in this country. The Constution offers me all of them. In amongst all those rights, marriage is not one of them. Marriage is a religious right/rite. That is why preachers, pastors, priests, rabbi, and so on are the ones that are allowed "by the power vested in me" to pronounce two people married. When the State gets out of the marriage business, then it can stop worrying who marries whom.

As much as that may pain you, all the prayer in the world won't change it! Let's take religion out of the marriage game altogether! The state should only recognize civil unions for tax and all other purposes. Marriage takes place in a church and has no place in government. Allow all marriages to turn to civil unions and then treat everyone equally with those.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people slam the Bible, or God, as well as those who believe in both, when issues like this come up. I would like to remind you that like it or not, THIS COUNTRY THAT YOU LIVE IN WAS FOUNDED AND BUILT ON THOSE VERY PRINCIPLES!! Every president is sworn in with his hand on a Bible for a reason. Our currency has "In God We Trust" on the back for a reason. Our Pledge of Allegence contains "One Nation Under God" for a reason. Every July 4th, we celebrate our independence with song lyrics such as "God Bless America", "God Shed His Grace On Thee", and the list goes on. So if you don't like these facts, maybe you should stop spending our currency, continue to work on a day where we celebrate God and our freedom, and YES, respect the institution of marriage as it was meant to be: a man and a woman! You can continue to live as you choose, but DON'T slam God or the Bible, because that is what we're built on!

No one is "asking you to follow the bible", however, when you come at the door of one who does believe it, would you allow then to decline to your beliefs. As I said before I highly doubt it. These are not actions of a democracy.

I believe this bill has a safety net built in - that allows churches to make their own decision regarding "gay" marriage. It will not allow chruches to be FORCED into performing marriages they don't want to perform. And, quite frankly, why on Earth would a homosexual couple want to be married in a church that looks down on their lifestyle? I don't think they're the storybook big bad wolf out to force everyone into their choice of lifestyle. They just want the chance to live it openly, the same way we heterosexual couples do.

19mile - you can believe anything you want. The problem is when a particular religion advertises itself as the "law of the land" and tries to infiltrate our secular government with it's ideas of morality. Not everyone is of this particular religion. Not everyone follows the Bible. Not everyone wants a particular religion dictating to the rest of us how to live our lives.

It is irritating hearing Christians being hateful, this is wrong. It is also annoying when Biblical references & faith in a Bible God are disrespected, one which I know they don't have much research in & have missed the message of this book. It is also frustrating to hear quoted, "science has proved, or dna suggests" when it has not. I love our countries diversity. It allows faiths that I disagree with, to worship & be protected and free to do so. It allows me to teach my children beliefs & I'm protection from our nation's constitution. I am against same sex marriage. I am compelled to this decision because of my faith beliefs. I am not a vocal or hateful individual. I hear, "separation of church and state" which is mostly taken out of context historically. When a church says no to your union, will you state it as bigot, or will you hold to your nations constitution to protect their right to do so. At this point will you leave state out of church? I highly doubt it.

mr_conservative- Here are some facts. 1.Same sex couples in Washington state have waited YEARS many YEARS for this vote, and for legal marriage. 2. Same sex couples across America have waited just as long-for the federal government to accept same sex marriage. 3.Same sex couples do pay more tax than hetrosexual couples PER the IRS 4. Same sex couples have been tossed under the bus in Olympia far too long. Same sex couples deserve exactly the same rights as you do as a hetrosexual. Maybe you can think on those terms? We should celebrate Diversity, and as Ron Sim's said " I will not fear my neighbor, I will embrace my neighbor".

@bpieraccini - I have said NOTHING of religion. I wish people would move past the religious bigotry to see that this is NOT a religious issue. In in a normal healthy family, children need mother-child bonds AND father-child bonds. Each is vital. You don't have to look beyond a dysfunctional family for proof. Which one of these bonds are you saying is irrelevant and you would like to replace? Additionally, this marriage law does not give gays any additional rights that they already have from civil-unions.

I wish people would move past the religion and "so called" child rights issues. Public policy should not be based a religious moral code. The United States does not have a national religion. Move to the Middle East if you want a government that follows "The Book". Also, several studies show that children raised by same-sex couples are well-adjusted, and often better off than their male-female raised counterparts. Gays decide when to have kids, and are often more financially stable and educated themselves. Everyone is allowed their own personal opinion, but please do not use your opinion to discriminate and create laws against a minority. The sooner we resolve this issue, the sooner we can move on to the much bigger issues that Washington and the United States are dealing with. No one will be hurt by legalizing same-sex marriage except for the people who use other people's lives to define themselves.

By redefining marriage we are also redefining parenthood and family, which turns it into a children's rights issue. Hearts and lungs are vital to human health. They are not interchangeable or irreplaceable. You can create legislation that says hearts and lungs are equal. You can require schools to teach that hearts and lungs can be easily swapped out to include same organs. But, nature dictates that hearts and lungs will never be equal. Mothers and fathers are not exactly equal either, but they are equally vital. Nature has proven to our society that the most effective family unit to raise a child in includes a loving relationship of both a mother and a father. You cannot swap out marriage for same genders without harming causing harm to children and society. Certain individual children may be able to overcome their need for mother-child bond AND father-child bond, but by forcing society as a whole to break natural law it WILL harm us individually in the future.

Some think that the world started to go downhill with Reagan. They point to the fact, that it was Reagan who supported Hussein and supplied him with the weapons, including biological and chemical, to attack Iran. He also helped the Mushahadeen with weapons, RPG's and Stinger missiles. This of course led to Bin Laden. Reagan, Rumsfeld, Cheney and George Bush later followed by Bush Jr. It is true, that having Iraq and Iran fight benefitted us and our oil dependency with Saudi Arabia. Not too sure the history books will be so kind. Their hands are dirty in the deaths of ½ a million people. Those "thinkers" believe that if Reagan would not have involved us into conflicts that did not threaten our national security or present a clear and present danger to this country. We could have avoided the first Gulf war, the chemical attacks, Kuwaiti invasion and war crimes of Hussein, the invention of Al Qaida, USS Cole and American Embassy in Nairobi bombings, Sept 11 and the second Gulf War.

People are people, and I see no reason why one group should be allowed to tell another why they are less than, why they deserve to be second-class citizens. I don't really care what religion dictates - that's why we have separation of church (any church) and state. It's the state that grants marriage licenses to couples, not churches, and it should be granting to them to all that apply for one. If you're embarrassed to live here because of this, please leave. Washington will not miss you.

@mr_conservative Abortion has been fully legal since Roe v Wade in the early 70s, gay acceptance has been slowly been happening since the Stonewall riots, but sky rocketed in the late 90s and 2000s and spending has been out of control since Reagan set foot in the Oval Office. So please point to a specific year when society started to deteriorate; examples of the deterioration would be fine (remember that the "causes" of deterioration can't be signs of deterioration).

Anything they couldn't explain, "must be by the hand of God". So you people that blindly follow this without question, and twist the words of the bible to fit your own agenda need to have your heads examined. You're the one's with a mental illness. As if the court systems arent packed enough with hedrosexual marriages ending, now we can add more to it. They need to pass a bill making it tougher to get married period, and tougher to have children if your on public assitance or cannot fully support that child. Take away EIC tax credit, and penalize people who have children and are on assistance and have more children. Legalizing gay marriage should be null at this point given the countries budgetary problems.

Honestly, i don't understand it. We pay our taxes, own our home, support local charities with time and money, raise our 4 children (homework, soccer, basketball, dance, etc), shop local businesses, participate actively in our church community, and I run a business that employs 60 people (and growing). Oh, i've been with my partner for 24 years. How are we so different? I'm guessing we share the same values of prioritizing family and community. So, why is it okay to deny an entire group of american citizens 1,138 benefits, rights and protections provided on the basis of marital status in Federal law. Unfortunately, legalizing gay marriage in Washington won't remedy this. To me this is completely, utterly un-American. So this may be upsetting to those of you who still do not see this as an injustice, but we won't stop until we have the same rights afforded all americans and the Defense of Marriage act is overturned. Untill then, we will carry on with work, family

sodomite marriage is not a right just as pedophile or incestuous marriages are not a right. If the sodomites want to marry, they need to obey the same rules as everyone else: Human being, opposite sex, over the age of majority, not closely related. Any change in this is special rights for sodomites - and then the pedophiles and animal lovers will want the same exceptions so they can marry children / animals respectively. Regardless, the sodomites are just angering God, they will never force Him to accept their perverted lifestyle regardless of who else does..

I like how so many commentors here seem to think that a legalised monogomous relationship will somehow be the downfall of society. As if it is somehow going to encourage bad behavour (let's all recall the tiny, short marriages of today's popular celebrities) and, my personal favourite, child molestation. Look, we DON'T want your kids. Creepy nutjobs do, it has naught to do with one's gender preference. You know this, so quit. Such claims make you look pathetically uneducated. Also, I don't see you "waaah the budget" people whining when the state blows money on all sorts of things. If Olympia was spending 2 million to wallpaper the capitol in bible verses, you'd cheer. The economy improves in areas where equal marriage is legal. It does. We spend a lot on weddings, and more people would move here and open businesses. It's just a fact.

You're the same people who cringe at interracial couples. This isn't Mayberry, and it isn't the 20th century.
