POULSBO, Wash. -- A secret Santa in Poulsbo offered to pay the water bills of six customers.

Sheila Jones at Aquarius Utilities received the call from the anonymous donor on Monday.

"My first reaction was to get chocked up because I thought it was so neat," said Jones.

Kim and Dean Mills were one of the lucky ones who got the early Christmas gift.

"It brings tears to me because, who does that!?" said Kim.

Both Kim and Dean are injured and out of work, struggling to find jobs and pay doctors bills. They say this help will ease financial worries for them for the next few months.

"For the last few years, I haven't felt Christmas," said Kim, "The Christmas spirit and what this man did for me has brought Christmas back to me and my family."

Dean and Kim won't have to pay their bill again until March, thanks to the anonymous, longtime Aquarius customer.

"I felt like an elf all day," laughed Jones, "I got to call people and say, 'This is what this man has done for you!'"

This is the first time in Aquarius' 51 years of business that someone has offered to pay off a bill.

The donation has also spurred more giving around the community. Two of the recipients will donate the money they would have used to pay off their bills to help someone else. Aquarius will also pay the January bill for the secret Santa.

Excuse me, but these comments are totally missing the point. Yes, we know that the KING 5 reporters and editors can't spell or construct a coherent sentence. That's a given since this is television journalism, an oxymoron on the level of military intelligence. But the meat of the story is that people still care about their neighbors and are willing to help. That's what makes America great and if we focus on that instead of the nonsense spouted by the right-wing shouting heads, the idea of America will survive. We are our brothers' keepers.

Ehhh. Spellchecking against misspelling, proofreading and reasonable monikers are anachronisms; as witnessed by our good troll (whatever)rico(whatever).

Joefathead- Nope, don't want to rolling down the road now do we? The bane of computer spell checking. No one bothers to proof read anymore. What is really fun is picking a "unique" word to replace a miss-spelled one.

it's nice to see stories like this one, where people remember the 'spirit' of christmas.
