SEATTLE – A Seattle movie theater that opened a year before the first talking motion picture will soon be silent.

AMC Theaters plans to turn off the lights on the Uptown Theater's pink marquee for good on Nov. 28. The theater opened in 1926.

The owner of the Uptown, located on Queen Anne Avenue, tells The Seattle Times that the movie house "no longer competes effectively in the marketplace."
