SEATTLE -- A man who wasn’t wearing pants allegedly stole a yacht and went on a rampage in Seattle’s Portage Bay before being shot by another boat owner.
Seattle police say it started around 11 p.m. Sunday. Boat owners at the Queen City Yacht Club woke up to loud banging.
The man, 22, allegedly stole a 35-foot yacht and then started ramming it into other boats and docks. Police say the man took down a large overhang.
Another boat owner tried to stop the man by firing a shotgun. Police say the suspect was grazed in the head and hand. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
The man was naked from the waist down. Police suspect he was high on drugs.
Once released from the hospital, the man is expected to be booked on boat theft and property damage charges.
The armed boat owner was interviewed by police. That person is currently not facing charges.
No one else was hurt.
