REDMOND, Wash. – Police say a Redmond man fired a bullet through a wall that hit a Seattle woman Sunday, killing her.
The man, 21, has been arrested on investigation of first-degree manslaughter in the 20-year-old woman’s death.
It happened around 3:30 a.m. in the 16800 block of NE 97th Street in the Education Hill neighborhood.
Redmond Police say the suspect was at a party when he fired a shot from a 40-caliber handgun that traveled through the wall and hit the woman who was standing on the other side.
“We heard a lot of shouting, we heard a lot of yelling but we didn't know, we just thought it was a party that was getting out of hand we had no idea that this was going on,” said neighbor Jeanene Mackas.
When police arrived they found the victim had been shot in the neck. She was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where she later died.
Neighbors say a woman who owns the home was allowing her grandson to live there. She arrived at the scene and talked with neighbors, who say she was distraught.
“She’s very upset and angry and feels bad that this happened on her property, and a life was taken,” said Ginny Eng.
