SEATTLE - A male motorcycle rider was killed when his motorcycle crashed into a guardrail early Friday morning.

Seattle police say the accident occurred just after 1:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of Westlake Avenue North.

According to the police, the man was riding a black 2005 Kawasaki motorcyle when he failed to negotiate a left curve. The motorcycle left the roadway and collided with the guardrail.

Police say the impact caused the motorcyle to flip several times.

The rider, said to be 25 to 30-years-old, was thrown from the motorcycle when it hit the guardrail. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

The accident is still under investigation.

My heart goes out to the family. No one deserves this. Before judging get more facts. I'd like to know more myself. Was alcohol involved, was another vehicle involved that fled the scene. What I do know is this corner is deceptive. I live at this address and have both heard and witnessed multiple accidents per year on this corner. This is not the first fatality on this corner. There has now been two motorcycle and one car during the time I've lived here. Check out "Fatal Taurus vs Porsche Boxster" on youtube. This was the last fatality. I'll tell you what is freaky...The family of the previous motorcyle fatality taped a cross to a street light at this corner. Later that year another accident took out the street light. For over a year and a half my wife pleaded with the city to replace the street light and add more corner signage. A new street light is now up and marks almost the exact spot where this gentlemen landed. I ride a motorcycle and am praying for the family.RIP

I think by all these comments you all have missed the boat here, instead of putting blame on this person, I pray for this young man's family. By one awful mistake, accident, he is no longer here and will be missed I am sure by many. I am a motorcycle rider and I am praying for his family and hope you all do too.

Perhaps I am the only one who wants to know...does the color of the motorcycle mean anything here? The story reads: "the man was riding a black 2005 Kawasaki " as if the black motorcycle could'nt negotiate the curve. Would a white motorcycle been able to manuver more safely? I don't think so. Are black motorcycles more dangerous because they're more feared and mysterious than other colors of motorcycle? Oh, and maybe this was the idiot rider who passed me on the right-hand shoulder and was riding like a moron the other day on I-5...if so...karma !

@stryker - If calling names is the only thing you can come up with, your immaturity is laughable.

Boy, you people fight too much. No matter who or what he was he didnt deserve this, more than likely this looks like just a tragic accident, most likely he was prabably not involved in bad activity and just made a mistake like most people do everday. Let the guy rest in peace.

Sad story, very sad. Thus why I wont ride a motorcycle, the smallest of crashes can be so serious. My thoughts are with his family, I hope he didnt leave any children behind.

@stryker - Quite the assumption that I'm a "non rider." While I no longer ride a motorcycle, it was my only form of vehicular transportation when I was younger. Your statement "Don't ride when your tired, that's for sure" is absurd. What did you do - ask the guy after he crashed and died if he was tired? Did you also ask him if he was drunk? You'll also notice that I have not resorted to the lowest form of posting a comment by calling you an idiot as you did me.

Motorcycles are only as dangerous as the riders make them. If your an alert and well trained rider, its no more dangerous then a car. My wife has been in 4 accedents in her car since I have been riding, and I have been in none. I also remember a study showing that your more likley to be killed walking on a sidewalk then riding on a motorcycle. It seems this rider just didnt have the skill level to negotate the turn at the speed he was going, and that can happen in a car just as easy. The big problem with motorcycles are young kids, riding fast bikes, with no safety equipment doing stupid stuff. Gives us all a bad name. Thats like giving a teen the keys too a Corvette!
