The Pacific Northwest is home to the smartest city in the U.S.
Seattle, Washington, has been named most literate city by Jack Miller, President of Central Connecticut State University.
Miller’s research focused on newspaper circulation, number of bookstores, library resources, periodical publishing resources, educational attainment and internet resources.
Rounding out the top five were Washington, D.C., Minneapolis, Atlanta and Boston.
Seattle finished second in the study the previous year. Portland did not make the top 10 in 2007, but finished sixth in the latest study.
