WEST LINN, Ore. -- A Seattle woman was arrested Friday after police said she was driving drunk with her young children in the car, and her blood alcohol content (BAC) was measured at nearly four times the legal limit.

West Linn Police said Sarah Rattray, 43, crashed off of the I-205 south off-ramp at Willamette Drive at around 8:45 p.m., causing her tire to blow out.  Rattray was getting help changing her tire from a passerby at a gas station when police approached her.

Officers said Rattray's BAC level was 0.29 percent, nearly four times the legal limit.  Police said she had her two young daughters in the car with her on her drive from Seattle to West Linn, and neither they nor Rattray was injured in the crash.

Rattray was arrested and taken to the Clackamas Co. Jail, where she was booked on suspicion of DUII and two counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person.

Put her children in a safe place. Put her in JAIL for a LONG STAY and neuter her as a future danger to society.

blue-hawaii did I read you right that your glad these kids are with their mommy? I hope she is in jail and that they are not with this person who must have a drinking problem. If she did not hurt or kill them this time your giving her another chance to do it soon.

annoyedparent, as a recovering alcoholic i can tell you that you are incorrect in your statement of most accidents killing others. while tragic when it does occur, the overwhelming number of deaths are single car accidents that take the life of the driver. some say they deserve it, i dont know. second, the law looks at it differently because you are not intentionally trying to murder someone. thats why dui deaths, right or wrong are, manslaughter cases. therer is no intent in the eyes of the law. while dangerous, stupid and selfish (not defending her), she did not knowingly go out to hurt someone. alcoholism is a recognized disease and therefor different from someone knowingly getting a gun, loading it, and pulling the trigger. this woman has a terrible problem and needs help, maybe this horrendous act can help her.

Hmmm... More than likely, this woman does not recognize that she has any sort of "drinking problem."

I would never put my kids in danger like that woman did! I'm just glad that her kids are doing well and that they are still together with their Mommy! And hope Mommy dosen't do this again!

Wow, with a 0.29 BAC in West Linn, if she didn't drink in the car, one wonders how drunk she was when leaving Seattle. Lucky the kids weren't hurt in the crash.

I will never understand why DUIs are treated like any other traffic violation?!?! How is this any different than shooting a gun into a crowd of people? You put hundreds of lives in danger when you make the decision to get behind the wheel drunk. This could have easily been a fatal accident, and it would have been her kids and/or other innosent drivers and passengers to suffer! I think the worst part about drinking and driving is the drunk driver is rarely the one who's killed!! I certainly hope she is charged as harshly as she deserves!!

I should wear my reading glasses more often, I guess. I did not see the period in the story headline when I clicked on it. They should put a 0 in front of the .29.

It would be easy to hate this person. It is harder to pity, but punish her in a meaningful way. Until we honestly look at the social and economic impact of drinking and driving and treat it like the crime that it is we will continue to have epidimec levels of it on our streets. This is a tragedy averted by the diligent police, the next tragedy will be her light or nonexistent sentence. She should lose her license for no less than a year if this is her first offense and for good if she is a repeat offender. She should also be forced to buy a subcompact car so that when she hits someone while drunk she will be less likely to kill them.

She should be charged with attempted murder! It is to bad drunk drivers can't just kill themselves.
