Seattle house fire reveals marijuana grow operation

SEATTLE - King County sheriff's deputies are investigating a marijuana grow operation after a house fire in White Center.

The fire started after 1 a.m Sunday on 10th Avenue Southwest.

Firefighters say flames were shooting out of the ground floor when they got there.

They quickly put the fire out and when they searched the home they found marijuana plants in several rooms.

No one was hurt.

Sheriff's deputies say they've made no arrests so far.

To Sybyl69 I say "AMEN", let the cops fight real crime as they obviously have their hands full now with all the cops getting shot all over the country... To you cops the people smoking weed are not the ones shooting at you so put your attention where it needs to be "STOP THE BULLITS"...

For all of you who say weed is a drug well putting it simple weed grows in the ground and is a natural herb used by us Native Americans for centuries... Now how about you alcohol drinkers of the world who dicriminate weed smokers as "Druggies", you're so drunk all the time you don't even understand "ALCOHOL IS A DRUG FAR WORSE THAN WEED EVER WILL BE" and I have yet to see a well in the ground produce any kind of alcohol, thus it is a man made chemical in my opinion right alongside meth, heroin or any other man made substance... So get back to basics and get your heads out of your butts...

well maybe so okokokok, but u are wrong under wa state law u are allowed to possess, just not under federal law to possess. The laws will change, soon.....its all in the works as we speak. and for all the rest that think u should go to jail for using it. U guys are complete morons in my book. We as the people have many more drugs in our society that we should be worried about, alcohol being one of them. Pain pills, and meth, and heroin being others. Everyone gets their turn, in court. They will get theirs

When you have reinforced doors (like the last people who got caught growing more than their share of "medical" marijuana), grow rooms full of plants, people doing home invasions on you, and you're armed to the teeth or overloading your electrical, so you put firefighters at risk it's beyond a benign pain medication and just a "drug". They need to do home inspections on the people with "legal medical marijuana grow licenses" and keep them regulated like everyone else.

fickle: Just to clarify things... It may have been a medical grow but the law states patients are allowed 16 plants at one time. It sounds like there were more than that. as the law stands now it is never legal to possess or grow marijuana in Wa. The medical marijuana law is supposed to provide a "viable legal defense" in court. Seems like authorities are ignoring everyone who follows the rules, though I have heard of a couple people being harassed a little over it. The prosecutor's office is likely trying to figure out exactly who is responsible, and if it was a medical grow.
