SEATTLE – Six months from now, there will be no more free bus rides in downtown Seattle.

In an effort to fill an operating budget hole, Metro will end the free ride area on Sept. 29.  Metro is still working on implementing a plan for making operational changes for buses and how to address passengers with little or no income who currently rely on the free ride area to get around.

Transit agencies including King County Metro will hold an informational open house Thursday, 4 – 6:30 p.m. at Union Station, 401 S. Jackson Street. The agencies will outline some of the options being considered and will take public comments.

If you cannot attend, you can leave a comment at the Metro website, send Metro an email or call them at (206) 296-7643.
