SEATTLE – The Seattle-Tacoma metro area is considered the ninth best city of working moms in America, according to Forbes Woman Magazine.
The magazine analyzed the 50 largest metropolitan areas and looked at several factors that are important to moms including public safety, schools, health care, job opportunities, earning potential and cost of living.
Seattle-Tacoma ranked 9th on Forbes' list for pediatricians and 12th for women's income. The area had the 13th lowest rate for violent crimes and was 43rd in cost of living.
Portland ranked 23rd overall. While the Rose City was middle-of-the-road in most sub-categories, it had the third-lowest violent crime rate.
Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn. was the top city overall. It boasts the lowest rate for violent crime and second-lowest unemployment.
Washington, D.C. finished second, bolstered by its high income for women and low unemployment.
Boston finished third overall. It ranked fourth in women's income, spending per pupil and pediatricians.
