SEATTLE - A Seattle police officer is recovering after falling out of a window during a chase.

Early Saturday morning the officer followed an underage suspect out of an apartment window and fell 25 feet.

Even though the entrance to the apartment was on the ground floor, the window was farther up than the officer realized.

The officer is in stable condition.

When good cops get rid of bad cops and quit protecting them then they will get the respect they deserve.

garlicman: Obviously the suspect was familiar with the apartment enough to know about the difference in height. I really hate it when narrow minded people bag on the police for doing their job. If he just let this heathen run off people would be mad about that. You can't have it both ways. I would like to see the ones on here making fun of him trying to to do their job. Most of you wouldn't last half a shift.

People complain when the police let a criminal go free right in front of their face. The guy was running from the police, he could have been a murder suspect. People should quit looking for reasons to put down the police. There is not too many times when you can say a situation was created by the police.

"...the officer followed an underage suspect out of an apartment window and fell 25 feet." What happened to the suspect? 25 feet is no problem for him?

Since when is being underage a crime? I hope this cop, tracking a murder or robbery or rape suspect recovers and gets recognized for his/her efforts to protect the community... If this was a traffic speed violator or if underage somehow refers to alcohol... then I hope the doughnut belly helped break his/her fall!

Looking before leaping might be a good idea.

You guys making the comments about the donuts are pathetic. He was doing his job and got hurt. How many times have you hurt yourself doing something and gotten blamed on your eating habits. Sounds kind of stupid when you think about it doesn't it. Think before you speak (or type) so you don't sound like a fool! It's too bad when people have to bash others to make themselves feel better because they are so small-minded. I just wish the cop had landed on the idiot he was chasing.

More training for SPD. Look first before jumping out windows. Ground could be further than it appears. Excessive donuts plus gravity can be a killer!
