Another thought, this was a smart idea for them. Think about it - if it was just another coffee shop, would it have gotten this kind of attention? Attention means business, and translates to revenue for them.

Well,the ladies dressed in see through lingerie ,pasties,and thongs are one thing. If they want to wear bikini's fine go for it,personally,I'm glad men are doing this. If you want equality then it means for everything. Please believe me that if they were going to wear see thru banana hammocks....well...I'd pass on that. I love the thought of half naked beefcakes serving up my caramel latte!

I myself am glad to see a "Barista Boyz of Broadway". It is about time. I am so sick of seeing women parade around half naked. Dont get me wrong I think if they can do it with class they by all means do it. But to many time we see men googling and drueling around places that it gives the areas a bad name. But if there comes a place that women can do the same, all of the men are up in arms. What makes a difference is that the men will have more on than pasties an a g-string.....

People are saying that you don't see anything here that you won't see at the beach. I have never seen see through lingerie at the beach and women bending over to get tips. I think its funny that these guys are doing this.

Interesting. I pass by this stand everyday on the bus or by car but because of the reflection of the windows, you can't actually see inside. It's also within a block or two from a private elementary school but so what...it's Capitol Hill for pete's sake. Just head a few blocks north in the Pike/Pine corridor and you'll see all different styles of so-called risqué attire, piercings, whatnot and some of them are serving up food and drinks at local pubs and eateries. At onsite restaurants and beverage carts at beaches (usually in warmer climes), it's not unusual for servers to be dressed in beachwear, shorts, bikini tops, etc. or what can be considered to be hardly anything at all. Unfortunately KING-TV only photographed the stand itself and not the baristas so we can see what they're describing though having worked in restaurants before, I care more about whether servers are washing hands enough.

sharkbieght, you must have been one of those getting his jollies from those "bikini" baristas in their thongs and pasties. Sorry your source of entertainment is gone and you now have to pay for it. And yes, there is a difference between underwear and bikinis. I don't dictate what any one should wear, I don't assume I have that authority. But there are decency laws and there are places for that type of entertainment. Also, keep in mind that I don't drive by any of those stands and wouldn't patronize them. But I have a right to my opinion and I feel free to speak it. And I guess I consider it a sorry day when businesses ask their employees to wear their underwear, thongs, bras, pasties, etc. just to bring in business. And don't tell me that's not what they were doing. I got to a coffe stand near my home and the employees dress appropriately. The coffee is great (not starbucks) and the conversation is intelligent. They don't have to sell bodies to bring in business.

You all are missing the point. The problem with the bikini baristas was not bikinis. The problem was pasties and thongs and undergarments. Those things belong under the clothes, not as clothes. I have always said, in any of my posts regarding the bikini baristas, if they were wearing bikinis, I'd have no problem with it. I just think it's inappropriate to wear your underwear at these places. And I do believe that the bikini coffee stands are still out there, just that the employees now have to wear bikinis rather than thier underwear. So get over it.

Now this is funny. All the complaints about bikini baristas and now you have guys opening shop. I am sure women will not complain because its a double standard. Don't get me wrong here, I think the bikini baristas are a stupid idea and a great marketing idea, but you are not going to have droves of men going to the city complaining about guys in beach attire serving coffee. And what's up with the dad bringing in his kids?? How different is that from men bringing kids to the bikini stands?? Eventually the same thing will happen as with what happened in Everett. Coffee with sexual favors...for those lonely soccer moms. But I guess that will be okay for the women because its a guy serving them and the sense of entitlement. A law needs to be passed for all coffee stands of this nature, owners need to have a entertainment license, just like in Snohomish county.
