EVERETT, Wash. – The Coast Guard is suspending the search for a body reported floating in the water near the Mukilteo Ferry Terminal Thursday morning.

Two people had reported spotting the body, described as wearing a tan coat, blue pants and black sneakers, at about 9:45 a.m., according to the Coast Guard.

The Ferry Kitsap launched a small boat and the Coast Guard launched a helicopter to search, but no body was found.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office says deputies believe that ferry movement may have relocated the body. The search area is considered too big and dangerous to safely search for the body.

An abandoned boat found in the area was not related to the reported body.

As a result of the search, the Kitsap was diverted to Edmonds to drop off passengers. Ferry service was delayed for two hours.
