SEATTLE - The Seattle Seahawks served a Thanksgiving dinner for more than 130 women and children at Century Link Field Tuesday night.
The families who received the feast are from Mary's Place, Compass Housing Alliance, and Low Income Housing Institute. The groups help women and children battling homelessness and severe financial hardships.
"I never would have thought that I would be in the stadium or be this close to Seahawks players," said Sharon Shannon who brought her two grandchildren. "This is unbelievable for me."
Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka was among a group of players who served food to the families.
"Everyone is just so grateful to be fed. It is something I take for granted everyday," said Hauschka.
The Seahawks Women's Association partnered with Sportservice, Sysco, Pacific Seafood, and Charlie's Produce to host the event.
