SEATAC -- Thousands of Seahawks fans from across the northwest gathered in SeaTac on Sunday morning to show support for the team as they head to Super Bowl XLVIII.
The Seahawks invited fans to line the 1.1 mile route on South 188th Street starting at 46th Avenue South towards 28th Avenue South in SeaTac to show support for the team.
Fans brought 12 flags, signs - and Skittles - and were decked out in Seahawks attire.
“I was around when the NBA title was won, so I’ve been waiting a long time for another championship,” said Phil Pompel, a fan.
Many woke up as early as 6:00am to watch the team buses go nearly 5 hours later.
“We’re crazy for the Seahawks! Gotta represent,” said Cindy Ruziska, who drove to SeaTac from Bonney Lake.
"It's just an amazing experience, we've watched this whole street fill up," said Tracy Duvall, a diehard Seahawks fan.
Duvall wants a Vince Lombardi trophy so bad, she’s willing to trade her husband for it.
“We will take a win anyway we can get it, including hawking our husbands, let’s go hawks!” she said.
“I was two years old last time they went,” said Madison Kimmet, a fan.
After the Seahawks lost the 2005 Super Bowl to the Pittsburgh Steelers, fans are hoping this second visit to the big game will be different.
“It was tough. We’ll get over it, we’ll get this one. I think it’s our year,” said Phil Pompel, who lives in SeaTac.
The Seahawks kickoff Super Bowl XLVIII against the Broncos at 3:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, Feb. 2 at MetLife Stadium.
