SEATAC, Wash. --- Passengers arriving at Sea-Tac Airport Monday found their flights delayed or cancelled.

An East Coast storm cancelled 1,400 flights out of the three major New York Airports this weekend. The effects are being felt all the way across the country in the Pacific Northwest at Sea-Tac Aiport.

Monday morning, Delta Air Lines cancelled a 6:45 a.m. flight to New York, and American Airlines delayed a morning flight to JFK Airport by nearly two hours.

Amy Hott is one of the passengers that found out at the airport that her flight wasn’t going to lift off.

"I got here and it was cancelled and I said thanks,” she said.

Hott has no idea how she is going to make it to Senegal, where her friends are waiting for her.

Steve Shiffman is moving his entire family from Whidbey Island to Savannah Georgia. They were expected to take off on Christmas Day, but their flight to Atlanta was cancelled, so they were back at Sea-Tac Airport Monday.

"Today is a big day, so we had to hang out a couple of extra days in Seattle,” said Shiffman.

Fortunately, the Schiffmans did not sell their Whidbey Island home and had a place to stay. And Steve Schiffman doesn’t have to be back at work until Tuesday.

After spending the week with his family, Brian Day arrived at SeaTac hoping to get to Norfolk, Virginia.

"I knew my second hop was cancelled, but I didn’t know my first one was delayed by an hour or hour and a half,” said Day.

Alex Guretzky and his wife are trying to make it to Tel Aviv for a month-long vacation. Their American Airline flight to New York is delayed and they are worried they may not make their connecting flights.

"I am flying from New York to Brussels and then to Tel Aviv. So lots of connections," said Guretzky.

All three New York Airports were expected to re-open by Monday afternoon. Some flights are leaving SeaTac with the hopes the New York Airports will be open when they land.
