A substitute bus driver for the Issaquah School District is facing federal child pornography charges after allegedly sharing sexually explicit videos of young boys online.

Andrew Bernard Rekdahl of Carnation was arrested Thursday and charged with possession and distribution of child porn.

Rekdahl allegedly posted the videos on a peer-to-peer file sharing site under the name “Hboyandy.” An undercover Homeland Security agent was able to track the files to Rekdahl’s IP address in Carnation, according to court documents.

The agent also checked for any unsecured WiFi accounts near Rekdahl’s home to be sure nobody else was breaking into Rekdahl’s IP address to share the files. The only unsecured account was a library near Rekdahl’s home.

A search warrant was issued on Rekdahl’s home Thursday morning. Court documents indicate Rekdahl was not there, but his front door was unlocked. Agents allegedly discovered 194 images of suspected child porn on a laptop found in his bedroom.

When agents interviewed Rekdahl at work a couple hours later, he allegedly admitted to downloading and sharing child porn on the Internet. The agents immediately arrested him.

The Issaquah School District said Friday it would no longer employ Rekdahl. The district said Rekdahl passed state and federal background checks before he was hired last November.

No complaints about Rekdahl were filed during his employment and he never activated his employee email, according to the district.

"This is obviously a very serious charge, and our first priority is making sure that he acted as a professional at all times while driving for us," said Issaquah School District Superintendent Steve Rasmussen.

The court documents did not indicate if Rekdahl is suspected of personally shooting photos and video of child porn or if he obtained the material someplace else.

If convicted, Rekdahl could be sentenced up to 30 years in prison.
