TACOMA -- Protestors yelled throughout a rally held by Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum in Tacoma Monday night.

Santorum spent the day in Western Washington, splitting time between Olympia and Tacoma.

As he spoke at the Washington Historical Museum in front of an estimated 500 people, police escorted rowdy protesters out of the building. Many remained and chanted against the former Pennsylvania senator.

Santorum arrived in Olympia Monday just as Governor Chris Gregoire signed the state's gay marriage bill into law. Santorum, a socially conservative Republican, is against same-sex marriage.

Santorum is targeting voters who already support him and his ideals. At noon, he met with so called "value voters" in a closed door meeting in Olympia. A 3:00 p.m. meeting with Republican House and Senate leaders was also closed to the public.

Santorum has been riding a wave of popularity the past few weeks, stunning front runner Mitt Romney with key wins in the midwest.

Washington state's caucus is in about three weeks. Notorious for never meaning much, Washington is now attracting a lot of attention from candidates because the state's March 3 caucus comes right before Super Tuesday.

There is so many losers who are used to listening of Obuma's lies that they can't handle some one who tells the truth.Throw them all is jail because their free lunch from Obama is only a state of mind and not a reality. It will all end in Nov 2012.

So with him coming here means that the Gog Hates Fags pukes showed up anyway just under a different form of hate and bigotry. This country needs to wake up and stand up to the hate that people like him spew. Hiding behind their hate filled religious beliefs.

I'm sure Rick Santorum is a human being, but he believes that men and woman should only have sex when the intention is to create a child, or at the very least, if a child results from sex, then you must give birth to the child. He does not believe in unprotected sex, which is probably why his wife gave birth at age 48 to a child with a serious genetic disorder. Santorum supporters should follow his direction and be abstinent until such time that they wish to have a baby. Also, since he wants America to be a Christian nation, the rest of us will I guess have to move to Mexico or something.

Santorum is actually speaking with women present? What a hipocrit! He doesn't feel women should have rights at all, even the right to vote - so why should they listen to him, or worse yet vote for him!

Dakotanative - Maybe you should do a little homework and look into why the state Republicans kicked him to the curb. As a lawyer Santorum fought for and won for the WWF (1989) to allow anabolic steroids to its athletes sighting that it wasn’t a sport, but entertainment. Large percentages of those athletes are now dead. He added to the No Child Left behind Bill, a provision that included the teaching of Intelligent Design. - I.D. takes the science out of evolution and uses religion as the creation of man. Basically using his position as a Senator, to enact theology teaching into law. Santorum introduced the National Weather Service Duties Act which would have prohibited the National Weather Service from publishing weather for free. AccuWeather, a commercial weather company which is based in Pennsylvania, donated $10,500 to his PAC. Santorum criticized the National Weather Service in 2005, saying its evacuation warnings for Katrina were insufficient, to help prove his point. He's no M.J

What do you mean when you say the president can't tell the supreme court how to rule? Do you know how the court is picked? I don't think any modern president with the opportunity to nominate a justice has ever picked someone from the other side.

@asceptictoo: Then somebody needs to explain to our current president what Congress and the courts are for. Did you not hear him say in his Superbowl interview with Matt Lauer that he hasn't accomplished everything he set out to do because he couldn't force Congress to do what he wanted? He seems to believe that Congress and the courts exist to rubber stamp and carry out his agenda.

actually, I was quite surprised that he thinks he can tell the supreme court how to rule. I believe he needs to go back to his high school civics class and learn why we have congress, the supreme court and a president. It's called checks and balances. Granted he is allowed his own personal opinion, as a woman he cannot tell me what I can and can't do with my body! Nor should any govt agency, it's sad how we have become such a nanny state because we let it happen. So for all you out there who agree or disagree with this man, stop pointing fingers and being hypocrites. We either work together as a people or we go down the toilet as a nation!

Sanatorium is a politician's politician -- the Pennsylvsnia Progressive. He endorsed the liberal Arlen Specter then like a typical Washington politician explains his actions away with excuses. Santorum is no doubt a social conservative. But that is only one leg of a three-legged stool. He is not a true fiscal conservative, voting to keep Amtrak. Again like a typical Washington politician explains his liberal vote away. Santorum is a Sanatorium is a politician's politician -- the Pennsylvsnia Progressive. I understand how Santorum wants to protect peoples "religious liberty" as he mentions in the video. However I DON'T understand how someone running for President cannot understand that personal liberties like freedom of religion ENDS when another person is involved. You DO NOT have the right to force YOUR religions beliefs onto another. So yes, his anti-gay stance IS hate and bigotry. You don't like gay marriage? DON'T HAVE ONE, end of discussion, shut up about what SOMEONE ELSE decides about it.

Video only works if you log in? Gregoire is only signing the bill now, pushing it thru now... to keep anyone from noticing she is ruining the state's economy and keeps threatening children's medical coverage every time she has to make "painful cuts".. they are only painful because she wants to spend and spend. It's the one thing she will talk about during her campaign. Dems always do this so you vote for them to make yourself feel good because you are "letting" someone else have rights. It's all theater. Obama is doing the same theater with birth control, which is not a "right" and is not mandatory medicine and should not be free unless a doctor determines it is a health issue, not a clear up your skin issue, or a convenience, but a necessary medicine. Also King didn't even post this until 6 pm so it isn't like they wanted anyone to attend, way to manipulate your coverage. Our economy is important but King manipulates our news to protect the dems running this chicken outfit.

@josefina: Do you know what fascism is? My dictionary says that fascism tends to include a contempt for democracy, insistence on obedience to a powerful leader, and a strong demagogic approach. That sounds an awful lot like our current president.

Coug9 - Santorum lost his job as a senator, he got booted out after his first term. He lost re-election by over 20% of the vote. How he figures he is now ready to take the helm as President, only you Republicans can figure out, for I am perplexed. The conservative base does not like Romney. They don’t trust him. His ability to change into whatever type of candidate he needs to be in order to win makes some wonder on which Mitt they are voting for. A lot are hesitant to vote, only to find out he isn’t as conservative as he tries to be. All in all, the Republicans are hosed. All their candidates are flawed and they know it, they will select someone, but the enthusiasm and turn out needed to beat the President is not there at all.

He might be a nice guy, Coug9, but he will never be president. As long as he stays true to the conservative mold, he will always lose because most of this country will not put up with his attempts to make this a Christian country. This country was founded on the principles of Freedom and Justice and to escape religious persecution. However, there is a big push by the Christian powers to circumvent those right by pushing their beliefs on the rest of the country, even thought Christians are only one part of the make-up of this country. Hence why he will lose.

Rick Santorum is a good man, and would make a fine President....someday. However, like President Obama, he has little/no executive experience. Rick needs to run for Govn. of some state first, then take another shot at the Presidency. Romney has the executive experience in both the private sector and government. His "flip-flops" will be kept in check by the conservative base. I only wish that Romney had HALF the moral substance that Santorum has............. maybe he does, but he isn't showing it.
