Hundreds of motorcyclists on Saturday escorted the remains of departed veterans from Kitsap County to Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent.
“The Unforgotten, Run to Tahoma” included a military honor escort.
This was the fifth celebration of life ceremony. The event occurs when the county coroner has the remains of at least one unclaimed veteran in his care. This year, the veteran was Walter L. Brown, who served in the U.S. Army in the 1950s.
Five other veterans were submitted by family members or friends: Michael F. Shaughnessy, Norman N. Holgate, Robert J. Brown, Frederick L. Hughes and Kenneth D. Hughes - all Navy veterans.
Prior to the departure, there was a brief service outside the coroner’s office in West Bremerton.
