Ring, weapon from deadly Craigslist robbery recovered

TACOMA, Wash. – Pierce County sheriff's detectives say they have recovered the ring that was advertised on Craigslist which led to a deadly robbery in Edgewood, Wash. last month.

Police say Jim Sanders was shot and killed April 28 while trying to protect his family during the robbery.

Pierce County sheriff's spokesperson Det. Lynelle Anderson said the ring was recovered Monday from a pawn shop in San Francisco. It was the same shop where police recovered the wedding ring of Charlene Sanders, Jim's widow.

Also Wednesday, detectives say they recovered a gun used during the robbery and an item stolen from the home. Detectives served search warrants at a business called Car Tunz in Lakewood and at the home of a Car Tunz employee in Tacoma.

Detectives say one of the suspects in the murder led them to believe that the gun and the stolen property were sold to Car Tunz employees. Detectives say it's too early to know if the weapon recovered was the one used to kill Jim Sanders. They also would not identify the stolen item that they recovered.

Clabon Berniard, 23; Kiyoshi Higashi, 22; Amanda Knight, 21; and Joshua Reese, 20 are all charged with murder, assault, robbery and burglary. Detectives say they believe Higashi was the one who pulled the trigger, killing Jim Sanders.

all I can do is apologize for my family and keep them in my prayers. For everyone who hates mr Higashis family as well as mr Higashi I pray that it is seen that the family has felt the pain right along with you and will continue to. We are very sorry for all the pain and suffering and that comes from my heart. Mr Higashi as well as the other 3 defendants will be punished for their crimes. The family will also pay and that is through their losses. We are however not bad, evil people who have no heart or compassion. We do feel pain for the Sanders family and we are sorry. Do not hate or be angry with us for feeling hurt and loss for our own family as well. That I must say is normal and will continue. So any and all of you who still believe the whole family should pay for the crimes of the 4 accused I am truely sorry for your hardened hearts. I to will keep you people in my prayers, praying that God will soften your hearts and open your eyes. If there is anything we need throughout this

sympathy, nor am I asking for anyone to believe these four people did nothing wrong. I am simply stating the families are innocent here and shouldn't receive life in prison or death because of the choices their family members made. I will always love my nephew and that is a fact. I do not love what he did and I believe he will be punished. The only person who will judge him though will be God and i pray that he is able to find God and begin a walk with him while he is in prison. All things happen for a reason and God is behind all reasons. I just want the public to know that Mr Higashis family is not bad people who condone this type of behavior. I also want the victoms family to know that we are all sorry for their loss. I personally know Jim Sanders was a good man with a beautiful family and he did not deserve this tragic crime to be bestowed on his beautiful family. I personally wish it could all be restored to the way it was before that terrible night. I can't however change that

a humane sentence. Anger is a normal emotion when something this tragic has happened and that is what this trial will be feeding off when it gets underway. Not only are we angry with the defendants but we are also angry with their families. What is not understood is why does the anger go so striaght foward to their famlies? Yes they were the ones who raised thes four people and they obviously love them nomatter what they did, but is that part of their crime? They are just as lost as everyone else. They didn't loose their loved one like the poor victom. They did however loose a member of their family to not only the justice system but also to the public. Have you ever had to face the fact that your son, daugtor,niece, nephew, sister, brother, or even your wife or husband, was or could be a killer. Have you ever felt the pain that your loved one is hated by any and all people who knows and has privatly convicted them of the crime they are being accused of committing? I am not asking for

The life Mr Higashi grew up in is that of somewhat normal circumstances. He is not the evil kid he has been accused of being. Yes he has an extensive backround, but he is not a person who dreams of hurting or killing people. Nobody really knows what these kids were thinking when they went into the victoms home but I am pretty sure not one intended to kill anyone. That still doesn't change the fact of what happened. These four suspects will be punished for what they did and for what it is worth the prison system is not club med and they will not be going on a extended vacation when they receive their sentences. I have read comments stating they should be fried in the electric chair, they shouldn't be given a trial, they should all just be killed. To do just that would make the american people no better than all four of them as well as any other murderer sitting doing life or sitting on death row. We are a country who prides ourselves on everyone receiving a fair trial and nomatter what.

First off I want to say that this whole ordeal is a tradgity and I have complete sympathy for all of the victoms in this case. Noone should have to go through what this poor family is having to endure and I have them all in my prayers. I do not condone these four defendants. What they did was wrong and they deserve the punishment they are about to receive. All four of them are guilty if indeed they were the ones who carried out this awful crime. I do disagree with the fact that the rest of their families are being ridiculed for the acts that the four defendants participated in. I am in deed a member of Mr Higashis family. I am his aunt and nomatter what he has done I still love him. I see no reason for the public to put his family or the famlies of the other three suspects on trial. We are not evil people like we have been accused of being to the public. We did not participate in these crimes nor did we have knowlege of them. We are God loving people.

@ dkjamerican -- THANK YOU. I have been saying this for weeks. No one understands why I keep saying that the wife is making a huge mistake in judgement by telling the public all the details of what went down. This is going to bite her in the rear.
