Renton Police are investigating a fatality collision that occurred early Friday.
Police say at 2:20 a.m., officers responded to a witness report of a collision in the 1100 block of South Carr Road.
A witness saw a vehicle, which had been travelling westbound at a high rate of speed, leave the roadway and collide with a utility pole. The lone occupant of the vehicle, a 21-year old Renton man, died at the scene.
Police said speed appears to have been a factor in this accident; but it’s not yet known if drugs or alcohol were factors.
South Carr Road near Mill Avenue was closed. Puget Sound Energy responded to assist with concerns related to the utility pole.
Metro Route 169 was being rerouted off of Talbot Rd. S. Metro said shuttles operate via Lake Av S, S Grady Way, Benson Dr S, S 21st St, Talbot Rd S, S Carr Rd, 98th Av S and S 177th St.
