Real estate website Estately.com just ranked Washington fifth and Oregon seventh in the country for "cat lovers."
"We're thrilled to hear about the ranking," said David Lytle of the Oregon Humane Society. "Frankly, we think we should be No. 1 because more cats are adopted out of this building on the west coast and maybe even the united states."
Estately said Washington has the fifth most cat owners per capita in the country. They also pointed to Colonel Meow, a cat that holds the Guinness World Record for longest cat fur.
The website dubbed Oregon, "Catlandia," and why not? According to their research, Oregon had the third-highest rate of cat ownership in the country and the tenth longest lifespan for cats at 11.4 years.
There were also the more tangible signs of cat love around town. Jeld-Wen Field is home to a protected feral cat colony, and then there's “Meowhaus.”
"Cats are our friends," said Lytle. “They were royalty in the past and they were gods. There was a reason for that."
