Project Homeless Connect offered free health and human services today for hundreds of homeless people in Snohomish County.

More than 70 agencies participated in the one-day event at Cascade High School in Everett.

Approximately 1,000 people in need received free medical and dental check-ups. Organizers also provided free housing assistance, mental health evaluations, counseling, hair cuts, even pet care. Recipients were also given backpacks filled with toiletries

For the first time in the program's five year history, Project Homeless Connect gave out 1,000 pairs of shoes.

The event, which is open to anyone in need, runs until 3:00pm Thursday.
