LAKEWOOD, Wash. - It was a solemn procession Tuesday as the bodies of the fallen officers were taken from the medical examiner's office to a Lakewood funeral home.

Four medic units, one for each Lakewood officer - Mark Renninger, Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens and Greg Richards - were followed by dozens of emergency vehicles.

“It's heart wrenching, just to have someone cold callous do that is unbelievable,” said David Oleson.

The procession of vehicles escorted the bodies of the officers to Mountain View Funeral Home, giving people a chance to say goodbye.

“It's just sad there was that big of a loss for no reason. Our officers were taken like that,” said Kami Bond.

For a few moments Tuesday morning, people stood still, put their hands on their hearts, some with flags in their hands out of respect for those who put their lives on the line to protect us every day.

“Their families, I can't believe what they're going through. I just want to come out here and show my support,” said a man who, when he heard about the procession, grabbed his flag and came out to show his support.

A memorial service to honor the four Lakewood officers will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Tacoma Dome. More than 20,000 law officers, emergency responders, and members of the public are expected to attend.
