Gaselle Williams wants someone to speak up about what happened to her nephew. She says he was a good boy with strong family ties.
Twenty-two-year-old Desmond Jackson, a student at Seattle Central Community College, was gunned down outside a Seattle nightclub last weekend - and none of the witnesses will say who did it.
"Don’t they care about their loved ones? Their friends? How do we end the violence, stop it ,if they don’t come forward?" said Williams.
Desmond was shot, along with another victim who survived, late Saturday night outside Club X in SODO. The weekend before there was another fatal shooting at Republiq in SODO. The weekend before that there was a shooting at Citrus in South Lake Union.
After a shooting and several violent incidents at his Belltown establishment, Dhiresh Tewari finally sold the Copper Court nightclub. He says club owners must take responsibility and closely monitor patrons.
"It lies at the door,” he said. “They need a qualified team to see why do they have shootings … they have the answer at the door."
The Copper Court's new owner is working with the city and police to change staff and improve security. That same city team will monitor the three clubs involved in the recent shootings, hoping to prevent another fatal night.
"He was shot four times in the chest. This person stood where he could fire four times into another human being,” said Williams.
Seattle police are developing a new approach to nightclub violence. Precinct commanders will now have direct and consistent contact with nightclub owners
