BEAVERTON, Ore. -- A driver crashed into the railing on an overpass in Beaverton and was stuck dangling over Highway 217 Saturday.

At around 3:40 p.m., crews secured the truck to a fire truck to keep it from falling and used a fire truck with a basket to get the driver out of the pickup safely.

The driver, 38-year-old Matthew Hamilton of Beaverton, was taken to the hospital but did not appear to be seriously hurt.

Authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash

Traffic opened in northbound lanes after being closed in both directions. Southbound lanes were closed completely and would be open for an extended period of time, authorities said.
