A woman is recovering at Harborview Medical Center after she was hit by a Seattle police car Friday night.

Police say at about 11:51 p.m., a uniformed patrol officer in a marked police car was responding with emergency lights and siren activated to an in-progress domestic violence disturbance call involving a gun.

The officer was travelling southbound on MLK Jr. Way South.  At or near the intersection with South Willow Street a female pedestrian was crossing MLK from east to west and the woman was hit by the patrol car's driver-side mirror.

The police car spun out of control and ended up hitting a light pole.

The woman in her 30's was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

All lanes of southbound MLK Jr. Way South were completely shut down for an investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
