BOTHELL, Wash. -- Friends of Jeff Johnson of Bothell believe they have found the body of their missing co-worker in a Seattle park.

The body was found in a wooded area of Carkeek Park, where officers located Johnson's abandoned truck last week.

Investigators do not believe criminal activity is involved.

Johnson was last seen Friday when he left home headed for his job at the PCC Market in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood.

PCC workers and some of Johnson’s loved ones began the park search at 2:30 p.m. They notified police of the discovery, and are waiting for positive identification.

A KING 5 News crew is on the scene gathering the latest details. More will be posted on this story throughout the afternoon.

@janemckane Get off your high horse!! That wood carver had no business on the streets of downtown Seattle with a knife let alone whittling--NOT NORMAL--in anyway shape or form. When the law enforcement officer told him to drop the knife that is exactly what that woodcarver should have done!! That was the consequences for disobeying a law enforcement officer when they feel their life is threatened (no different from yours!) Split second decisions are not easy! Remember, that law enforcement office has to live with this for the rest of his life. It's people like you that make law enforcement officers have to keep their guard up. A postscript to it all is the law enforcement officer involved could be a super nice guy. And people like you and the likes that marched against him have ruined his life. Shame on you!

@peterkirk: Where in the rules does it state we have to restrict our comments to consolation of the family? This is a free country. We all have different thoughts and opinions and this is where we share them with others. A family should not and usually will not turn to the comments section under a news article for comfort. They'll rely on each other for the support needed to get through this difficult time. That said, I was sad to hear a body was found.

the cops don't start looking until 48 hours have passed, there is no missing person until then because people take off all the time for a day or 2. The car was not "abandoned" it was parked like lots of other cars. Every day people are reported missing and show up in a day or so. What is not being said is that he drove himself there and was not abducted. When the police don't release evidence to the public in a case like this and report that foul play is not involved, it usually means a suicide. The family is not speaking out so that tells you something.

I am sorry for their loss but i have to agree, the police should have at least TRIED to search even for a little bit based off of the facts.

A family has likely found out their missing loved one is dead an you people sit here bickering about nothing. Have a little respect. Nothing you say is of comfort to the family. Take your disagreements somewhere else.

@janemckane..what a stupid remark..the "whittler" was walking down the street with a "pocket knife" my friend, it was a very large knife in hand and he didn't respond to the police..go beat your drums elsewhere..

I agree that if you find an abandoned vehicle and a person is missing from his pretty routine life with no hint of any problems on the home front the police should look into it. This COULD be the work of bad guys! And if that is the case and untrained volunteers go tromping through a crime scene then all evidence could be destroyed. And momnseattle how do you KNOW there was no foul play? The search started at 2:30 and less than an hour later there is a story about a body being found?? It says there is none suspected but until autopsy results are back then no one knows this, do they?Just because there are no direct indications at first glance does not mean there is no foul play. And exactly as Chayden said, what if he was hurt somewhere and was alive yesterday and could have been saved? Someone dropped the ball here. But it's ok because momnseattle wants to keep the cops freed up so they can shoot dangerous woodcarvers on the streets. Sheesh..gimme a break!

Wonder why he was at Carkeek Park instead of his job at PCC in Seattle's Fremont district? That is quite a distance away from where he works. Still doesn't seem to add up right here.

@conservativegirl "Where are the police? Why are they not organizing a search with dogs? I don't understand. Women go missing and there are communities gathered in vigil and in search units. This poor wife should not be organizing the search party herself. Law enforcement hello?" Here's a better question. What have YOU done?

folks, there was no foul play. there are not enough police officers to research every missing person. hello? i can clearly see why the police were not involved. as tragic this is if it is the missing person, i would rather have police officers chasing around bad guys and unfortunately that's where we're at. it's going to take volunteers to do the searching.

I do not understand it has been a week now. No sign of Jeff every trail in that park should have been searched first thing? Where are the search and rescue people at? Somthing it messed up in a big way! What if he needed help yesterday? This is so disturbing on so many levels.
