A man died and a woman was rescued from Puget Sound off Priest Point near Marysville late Friday after a small boat capsized.
The U.S. Coast Guard said they received a report of a person in the water shortly before 11:00 p.m. on Friday. Multiple residents reported hearing someone screaming for help.
Shortly after rescue workers arrived, they spotted a woman in the water. She was rescued and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for hypothermia.
About a half-mile from the woman, rescuers found an overturned boat, approximately 10 feet long. Throughout the night, the Coast Guard searched for the woman's male companion. A deceased man was located on a beach near Mission Walk around 4:30 a.m. Saturday.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
