OLYMPIA, Wash. -  Olympia City Councilman Joe Hyer has pleaded not guilty to drug charges, and his lawyer says in a court filing that Hyer was entrapped.

Hyer entered not guilty pleas Tuesday in Thurston County Superior Court to charges of possession and delivery of a controlled substance.

He was arrested last month by the Thurston County Narcotics Task Force and accused of selling marijuana two times at his home to a person who turned out to be an informant.

The Olympian reports the defense lawyer, Ken Valz, says that person was a "trusted political mentor" and the only person to obtain marijuana from Hyer. The lawyer says the person that Hyer thought was a friend induced him to commit a crime he would not otherwise commit.

"....and his lawyer says in a court filing that Hyer was entrapped". Entrapped? You know, just like when he was going 85mph in a 60mph zone and was caught by WASP using a radar gun. He sold 2 times to informant, I wonder how many other non-informants bought what he was selling? Don't do the crime, if you can't do the time. He was breaking the law, he was caught. Not owning up to his actions of breaking the law will not get him back in office. Better off to say, "I screwed up, won't happen again". This "entrapment" argument only shows he is and was in the wrong.

Old news. Our last three presidents have admitted smoking pot, and more. Over 30% of the entire population has used pot. So what. Make it legal. The time has come...

So entrapment was used to get him to sell his marijuana and that he normally doesn't sell any. If it is illeagal bust him. You don't like that then change the laws.

Ya, sometimes I hate on it. It's too bad it's illegal, if it wasn't the person could just whip out the baggie like a union card and say "Not my job, man".

I have to work with pot-heads, I have to explaine everything 4-times, then they just laugh. or they twist things around like I'm out to get them. Just ridiculouse, Maybe get them to pitch in and help.
