SEATTLE - Seattle police are investigating an officer involved shooting that sent a 40-year-old man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
Det. Mark Jamieson offered preliminary information Tuesday night. He said officers were called to a home in the 400 block of Northwest 100th Place on reports of a domestic violence hostage situation.
Around 7:30 p.m. officers arrived at the home. A man was reportedly armed with a knife and holding his father hostage. Officers were able to separate the two, but the adult son ran back into the home, according to Det. Jamieson. Police deployed a taser, but it was not effective.
Police said a foot chase followed, and the son crouched behind a car. As officers approached the man came out with a large piece of metal raised above his head and police fired their duty weapons, according to Det. Jamieson.
Tuesday night it was not clear if one officer or more fired their weapon.
The Seattle Fire Department responded and transported the 40-year-old man to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.
