SEATTLE – Seattle police say officers responding to a Friday night disturbance call at a house in West Seattle shot and wounded a man who leveled a rifle at them.
According to SPD Deputy Chief Nick Metz, a woman called 911 after she overheard during phone calls with a neighbor a disturbance, gun shots being fired and a man making suicidal threats.
When officers went to the door in the 6100 block of SW Admiral Way, officers heard shots being fired.
A man exited the back door and pointed an assault rifle at the officers.
Three officers fired at the 59-year-old suspect. Metz did not know how many shots were fired.
The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center. He was in stable condition on Saturday.
Officers found an AK-47 and a handgun on the man. The woman who had been in the house earlier was not there.
The three officers involved in the shooting are now on paid administrative leave. Their names have not been released, but two of them were veterans with more than 15 years experience. The other one has been with the department for a couple of years.
