Nighttime behavior law considered

SEATTLE - The Nighttime Disturbance Ordinance is designed to make the city's nightlife neighborhoods safer. It would give police the authority to give a citation to a person who is disturbing the peace or has become a public nuisance.

It makes these disturbances a civil infraction rather than a crime. Police would simply issue a $125 ticket rather than hauling someone off to jail.

Someone who makes or causes unreasobale noise, someone who threatens another person, or someone who fights with another person could get a citation.

The behavior disturbance laws will only be in place in certain neighborhoods that have nightlife activities and it would only be enforced between midnight and 5 a.m.

Cellphone law, J-walking, Red Light Cameras and now a Behavior Law. Legal Revenue will be the highest source of income for Government soon enough. Note that the story did not say violent or physically threatening or abusive, it said disturbing the peace and public nuisance. How open ended is that? I would be all for something to curb the violence but this is not aimed at that purpose.

All the more reason not to go to Seattle! Those of you who live in Seattle better get your City council under control or your taxes will just increase more and more because no one will want to go to Seattle, I for one already have boycotted the city and the council just keeps giving me more and more reasons not to shop, eat or stay there!

Obama is NOT a socialist. He's a corporate tool. This is the definition of Mousselini's fascism. Corp take-over. So, in essence we are the United Corporate States of America.

sweet, so now I can punch someones face in and all it will cost is $125, instead of being hauled away and spending a night in the pokey. less paperwork, less mess, I like it.

Yes, please do this! The party goers rights should end where mine begin. And they have created a loud disruptive and intimidating environment in a neighborhood I've lived in for 30 years. So don't blame me for moving here. Most of these badly behaved party-ers don't even live here. They drive in to do their clubbing and boozing, costing us more money than they generate!

Those that spout off the most about socialism know the least about what it means. This ordinance appears to allow police to fine jerks who instigate violence without having to wait around for the jerks to cut or shoot someone before taking them to jail. The reasoning appears to be that the threat of a fine will give a less drunk person in the group a tool to motivate their mouthy friends along instead of allowing them to escalate into a fight. One can still be a jerk, they just have to pay for it now.
