SEATTLE - The Nighttime Disturbance Ordinance is designed to make the city's nightlife neighborhoods safer. It would give police the authority to give a citation to a person who is disturbing the peace or has become a public nuisance.
It makes these disturbances a civil infraction rather than a crime. Police would simply issue a $125 ticket rather than hauling someone off to jail.
Someone who makes or causes unreasobale noise, someone who threatens another person, or someone who fights with another person could get a citation.
The behavior disturbance laws will only be in place in certain neighborhoods that have nightlife activities and it would only be enforced between midnight and 5 a.m.
