SEATTLE -- Three jets soared over the Seattle skyline Tuesday, causing people on the ground to wonder whether there was an emergency.
But the flights were a photo opportunity, said Kim Martin from the Whidbey Island Naval Air Station. Photographers were getting shots of the EA-6B Prowler, and two EA-18G Growlers with Pacific Northwest scenery in them for the Navy.
The jets are painted in World War II themes to celebrate the centennial of naval aviation, said Martin.
Thad Westhusing said the sound of the jets going by startled him as he walked to take pictures of a basketball game.
"I was walking toward the Green Lake Community Center to take a few shots of the basketball players, when I heard a loud roar of jet engines," Westhusing said. "I looked up and saw the three jets approaching, whereupon I grabbed my camera and started photographing them as they approached overhead and then into the late afternoon sun."
