With same-sex marriage virtually assured in Washington state, opponents seeking to undo it are looking ahead to summer and fall, and to a campaign they say will draw on the resources of national organizations that have waged and won these kinds of fights.

A day after the state Senate approved same-sex marriage on a 28-21 vote and moved the bill to the House, where it's expected to pass, the Washington, D.C.-based National Organization for Marriage (NOM) said it's fully committed to repealing the measure in November.

One of the largest national funders in the fight against gay marriage, NOM also is gearing up for ballot battles in North Carolina and Minnesota, where voters this year will decide whether to ban gay marriage in their constitutions, as 29 states already have done.

It's funny the numbers of "christians" and "conservatives" and bible-thumpers who show such an interest - rather obsession - with what two men and/or two women do together when they're alone in a private place. Surely this too is deviant behavior, right?. As a gay man, I could care less - must less fantasize, narrate and summarize - what anyone other than myself or my partner does together in their bedroom.

I believe if churches want to get involved with politics and what legislations is passed, they should start paying taxes for that right. Otherwise they should stay out of politics!

To those who oppose this: What RIGHTdo you have to tell somebody who they can and cannot marry? What business is it of YOURS if two people want to get married? Who gave YOU the authority to tell others how to live?

Humm I seame to remember somthing in the constitisin saying something like everone has the right to "life, liberty, and the persute of happiness, and religes Fredom", and I do think gays are weird and sometimes gorse, bit given thows fames words that just about everone knows how can any state Goverment or any other Goverment or anyonein this countery dine someone's right to to pursue what makes them happy??? Now finding someone to marry to gays is another story and can not be forced to preform the marriage.

I'm the extremist? I'm not the one wishing to legitimize sodomy.

mr-conservative sexual deviance is those who can't keep their minds out of other peoples bedrooms. Your obsession with gay people is truly deviant. It is what drives you to come to these news blogs and push such extremism. .

I understand that we need a balanced budget... But saying that people's civil rights can just wait until everything else is sorted out... Well, it's very un-American. Are there plenty of other things the government could have concentrated on? Certainly. Does it make the fact that a whole group of people are going to get the civil rights their entitled to less worth the effort? I don't think so. With that line of thinking, there will always be something more important to put infront of them. And I don't think that's right.

I don't have any interest in this except I never want to be around it, I will never go to any service, This whole thing isn't what our lawmakers should have been donating there time to. Now the lawmakers will get to the end of this short session without any budget agreement and need to extend the session. Time to through all throw all the lawmakers out. VOTE this November

I'm not sure you want to fire up the liberal base here. You attack gay marriage, woman rights and a vote on marijunia all on the same bill. This state will be bluer than blue. The House, Senate and Executive Branch will be democratic. The President will win this State and the other refferendiums will draw out every 18 - 24 year old to vote Blue. Not a good year to stir the pot.

I just watched "The Help" last night. It is amazing all the false beliefs concerning African Americans. There has been so much change in my lifetime. Maybe some day soon Homosexuals will have the same respect.
