SEATTLE - Police are investigating a multiple vehicle accident in Seattle's White Center neighborhood. Serious injuries are involved.

According to a King County dispatch supervisor, the accident occurred at 11200 1st Ave. South shortly before 6:30 a.m.

Initial reports said a full sized pickup truck hit 2 other vehicles at a high rate of speed. The supervisor said the truck that did the hitting fled the scene. Later, however, a Sheriff's spokesman said it was not a hit and run accident because the truck was further down the road but did not leave the scene.

Four people were injured in the collisions, one is said to be in critical condition. The other three are said to have minor injuries. The critical patient and one other victim were taken to Harborview Medical Center, two of the victims were sent to Highline Medical Center.

A Major Accident Response and Reconstruction Unit (MAR) was brought in.

Police closed 1st Avenue S. between 108th and 116th. The intersection was expected to be closed for several hours during the investigation.
